Since then the accidents, disappearances, and murders that plague The Black Hills have been blamed on The Blair Witch. Fearing a curse, the townspeople fled Blair and vowed never to utter the name Elly Kedward again. However, by midwinter, all of Elly Kedward's accusers, along with half of the town's children vanished. Although her death was never confirmed, it is assumed she died from exposure. She was tried, found guilty, and banished deep into the Black Woods Forest. In February of 1785, the township of Blair, Maryland accused Elly Kedward of witchcraft.
